Slide Rock State Park in Pictures

My husband and I took my cousin and her husband to Sedona, Arizona on Tuesday. While we were exploring the area, we saw a sign for Slide Rock State Park and decided to check out the park. It was well worth the $10 admission fee, even at this time of year when you can’t go in the water. We got to climb and hike and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The temperature on that day (December 5th) was around 55 degrees.

The park was originally a homestead apple orchard, but now it’s a state park and one of America’s Top Ten swimming holes. Slide Rock has a half mile of Oak Creek that is open for swimming, wading, and sliding. It’s an 80-foot slippery chute that is worn into sandstone.

Here are some of my photos of the park. I hope you enjoy them.

  • I don't know where you pay. I and my cousins just parked on the side of the highway and climbed down. We encountered a family pulling out crawdads with their feet and putting them in a pail. They said they were going to cook and eat them. We looked at each other and gagged. People say they are good, but it's not for us.
