Do you remember that a few days ago, I wrote a brief description of the new book I’m working on? It’s Bohemia and Broken Hearts: A Tangled Roots Historical Mystery. Well, an update to that is the book is coming along nicely.

I still have more chapters to write, but I’m getting there. This book is a dual-timeline, with chapters alternating between current-time and WW2-time. Usually, when writing these I work chapter to chapter until I get to the end.

These dual-timeline books are really two stories/plots that are closely tied together. With this book, Bohemia and Broken Hearts, I’m working differently, because I wanted to really focus on each story and get deep into the heads of the characters. I wrote chapter to chapter at first but then put the historical section on hold while I wrote all of the current-time chapters. I’ve finished those now and am picking up the historical timeline again.

At this point, I think it’s safe to say the book will work. Only problem is that the historical portion is the harder one to write. I’m looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. The historical section will have a lot of sad times, as you probably already guessed from the title of the book.
